There are many things to fear in our society. Women and children are killed in their homes. Mergers and company closures make us wonder if our job will be there tomorrow. Maybe that sickness that won’t go away is CANCER or AIDS.
There is much to fear, indeed, but God tells us in the Bible, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God will be with you.”
We can’t stop the sources of fears, but we can let God give us His peace in the midst of them.

Sitting in the waiting room while a loved one is undergoing surgery is a most trying experience. It tends to change our perspective on life. Little else seems all that important. It doesn”t matter if laundry is washed or bills are paid. In due circumstances, priorities change.
Too often the little things begin to look important: the house needs painting, there ‘s trouble at the office, how can we be six places at once? Sometimes it takes a time of crisis to slow us down and help us to see what’s important – such things as good health, loved ones and the relationship we have with our Heavenly Father.

Today, noise is part of daily life. In order to think we must tune out the unnecessary noises that are part of each day …a clanging fire engine roars down the street … an impatient motorist honks his horn … dogs bark, birds chip, grill doors bang, children play. We learn to tune out many of these sounds.
But sometimes we tune out God. We need to listen to God as He speaks to our hearts through His Word. That can be done best when we are quiet … at rest. We worship Him in prayer, praise and thanksgiving.
Be still and know that He is your God.

How do you feel about the phrase in Bob Marley’s song, “Every little thing is gonna be alright?” If you are a Christian, you Do know that everything is going to be all right Underneath you are the “everlasting arms.”
But Christians are tempted as much as anyone to despair over the way things is going in their lives and in the world. They too, wonder about the way out of debt or illness or some other tragedy. That’s when we need to remember that the love of Christ is higher, and wider, and deeper than any trouble or tragedy. If we can put these into His loving hands, everything WILL be all right.
Shakespeare came near the truth when he had Hamlet say: “There’s a divinity that shapes our ends….” God’s Word teaches and history confirms, that “all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass.” No person, no matter how, great, is able to control his or her destiny. Our times are in the hands of God. Fortunes amused. Fame achieved. Power attained. These will all crumble, be forgotten, fade away.
But the glory of God is eternal. His glory we can share through faith in Jesus Christ, our Saviour. That faith gives us a sure claim on everlasting blessedness.

The word “good” sounds very much like the word, “God”
The truth is that God is good.
But not everything in life goes smoothly all the time.
The world creaks and groans at times, as do our bodies!
And time and time again our social order and or relationships break down… and we see the results of selfishness and sin.
The miracle of God’s goodness is that He’s dealt with all this through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
He calls us to follow Jesus in faith and love.
And as we heed this call, He shows us how good He really is.
What do you do when someone hurts you? Strike back …or suffer in silence? Neither of those ways will fix things. You can’t just forget it when somebody does something really bad to you that ruins your whole life.
Living with resentment doesn’t really help, but it’s hard to forgive in such a situation. But the best way to solve hurt is to forgive the person who caused it.That’s hard to do. But it is possible. Maybe we can’t forgive…but God can.
Through Jesus Christ, God forgives us our wrongs. This makes it possible for us also to forgive those who wrong us.
